What a year 2024 has been already – and it’s only March! Our quest which began in the new year for teammates to help lighten our load led us to many gems and continues to strengthen our hopes not just in the quality of Nigeria’s young people but in her future economic prospects. Here’s hoping Nigeria’s leadership steps up.
Anyhoo, we officially lucked out in our search and one of our newly minted engagement specialists joined us this month – our year is about to go on a run! But before they start delighting or needling you, dear reader, it is only fair that, as has become our tradition, we introduce them to you via a rapid fire set of questions they answer to tell you about their personality.
Well, meet Joy Asegieme!
Star girl: Joy Asegieme
Five songs??? That’s pretty hard because I love music so much and narrowing it down to just five songs is brutal. But I’d go with:
“Champagne Problems” by Taylor Swift (OF COURSE!!) I loveeeee her lyricism so much.
“Spring Day” by BTS (Kpop GODS!) Their entire discography should be on this list, to be honest, and it was a complete struggle to pick one song.
“Till Forever Falls Apart” by Ashe ft FINNEAS. If it’s a love song, sign me up!
“Say Yes to Heaven” by Lana Del Rey. She’s MOTHER! Also, her entire discography could make this list.
“Remember” by Asake. Asake is such a vibe, so it’s not surprising his song made this list.
Menisim – Hear me out! I am not a fan of men hosting podcasts because most times their opinions are flat-out misogynistic, but I enjoy listening to the views of Micheal and Murewa on Menisms.
I Said What I Said – I love FK and Jola.

I am currently reading Fate and Furies by Lauren Groff. It’s such an enthralling read and I love her writing style because it’s storytelling, but it feels like I’m reading poetry. I could go on and on, but you should check it out.
One of my all-time favourite shows is Derry Girls, and I love the quote from the scene when Claire is coming out to Erin and she says, “I’m sorry Claire but I’m just not interested in you like that.” And Claire responds, “Look at the state of you.”
I would definitely steal Kehinde Bankole’s outfit from the Iwájú launch. It’s colourful, completely gorgeous and some might say the cape draped on her shoulder is overkill, but I loved it.

I am not a sports girlie, so I have none at the moment.
Nonsense by Sabrina Carpenter. I have not done karaoke in a while, but when I do go I’m certainly belting this banger.
iOS because I love how sleek it is, the software, and the camera. I’ve not been loving it in recent times though because child labour… so we are boycotting Apple.
I’d say Spiderwoman. I get to shoot webs from my wrists, swing from skyscraper to skyscraper, and intern under Tony Stark the hottie. Come on, what’s there not to love?

Temi Otedola hands down! We would go to Strobrie by Joanne in Abuja (my fave quaint cafe), and order the Tozo sandwich. I would also beg her to let me intern for her Dad. Opportunity comes but once please, and I am surely going to use mine.

BOUNTY CHOCOLATE! Aht, aht, aht. I can see you rolling your eyes. There will be no bounty slander here.
Aaaand it’s a wrap! Do you cosign or see yourself in some of Joy’s preferences? If not that’s what the comments section below is for. Let her know. Better still say hi on Twitter!
