Q1 2025 Wrapped - Our love letter to Women

If you’re unaware, dear, March is over; Q1 is wrapping up, and if you've been with us the past couple of months, you know we love telling you how our quarters go.

You, our readers, community, and partners (past, present, and potential) deserve to know, after all, you've invested time in us.

Welcome to our Q1 2025 Wrapped.

From thought-provoking articles that sparked conversations to community engagement that reminded us why we do what we do, the past quarter was about how Ahmad’s Journal touched the women in our community.

Impact. (Cue the fireworks and laser light shows)

We delivered eight articles, tackling topics ranging from love and money, to how three Nigerian Business Baddies cope with record inflation.

In all this, we put our women at the forefront. From personality profiles, partnerships and even respondents, they had a seat at our high table.

We interviewed powerhouse businesswomen for our Baddies in Business article (shoutout to Alice of Zoboworld, Eddie of Eddiespicy, and Tunmise of Gthb Books), reviewed Vicky Nwuche's Guava Bar, a woman-owned bar in Abuja (because great stories deserve even greater cocktails), and partnered with talented digital artist, Tosin Ilebiyi, on our promo images. But that’s not all; We welcomed sponsorships from women-led businesses, a major content shift for us, and so far, we’ve spotlighted UIN Confectioneries - and we’re just getting started!

Let’s get into how the last three months went for us.

Performance Overview

The Stories That Made Q1 2025 Shine

This quarter, we wrote serious and lighthearted stories; Our audience loved the relationship conversations, humour, and our 2025 fashion predictions, so let’s talk about the ones that stole the show!

Things Nigerian Parents Say and What They Actually Mean – This one? A crowd favourite. From “Do your mates have two heads?” to “Is this how you will do in your husband's house?”, this article had everyone laughing and maybe even side-eyeing their parents.

Gen-Z Style Forecast for 2025: What’s In or Gone? – Fashion lovers and trend-watchers had a field day with this one. From the In’s of 2025 that we’re clinging to, to the trends we’re collectively throwing away, the debates were entertaining, to say the least.

Q1 proved that our audience loves fun, relatable, and insightful storytelling.

Maintaining our listenership this quarter was a tough nut to crack, but its challenges like these that push us to be better.

Q1 2025 reminded us that we need to do more to keep our community tuned in to our conversations, and best believe, we will.

Note: We're comparing Q1 2025 polls to Q4 2024 because polls weren't part of our content mix in Q1 2024, so this is our first year-on-year snapshot since we started running them!

Channel Highlights

Twitter/X

The job search conversation had our community in a chokehold this quarter. We talked about the hunt, the hustle, and the soul-crushing rejection emails, because let’s be real, job-seeking in 2025 is a full-time job on its own.

And let’s not forget the poll we put out. Whew! Turns out most of you guys have sent 50 - 200+ applications.

If there was ever proof that the job market is a shared struggle, our Job Interview Bingo was it! You guys checked off every single box, yes, even the dreaded “Interviewer looks unimpressed” one.

Instagram

If there’s one thing this past quarter showed us, it’s that our IG community has thoughts, and trust, we were here for them all. From career moves to navigating Nigerian parents to the realities of dating on a budget, our community’s responses to our polls weren’t just votes; they were real conversations, experiences, and feelings laid bare.

Every time we asked, our community answered. Loudly. Honestly. Sometimes even chaotically (and we love a little chaos). It wasn’t just engagement; it was community in action.

Here are some of our most popular polls and some hilarious responses:

So here’s to our IG fam for showing up, sharing, and making every poll feel like a group chat with the most interesting people on the internet.

Threads

This past quarter, our Threads community didn’t just grow; it connected. We found new voices, fresh perspectives, and kindred spirits who make every conversation richer.

We had multiple "Wait, are we thriends now?" moments.

Here are a few lovely interactions we had this quarter:

We’re building something special here, and if you’ve ever liked, replied, or just lurked with intention, you’re part of it. Here’s to deeper convos, stronger bonds, and a community that just gets it.

Lessons Learned & What's Next for Q2?

Lessons Learned

Q1 was loud, insightful, and full of energy - just how we like it. We learned that our audience loves stories that blend humour with relatability, so expect even more. We’re also making room for your voices and even more opportunities to shape the conversations we have.

Now, it’s Q2, and we’re levelling up. We’ve made it our business - literally - to improve on our craft; creating and curating insightful, entertaining and impactful stories for our readers, while creating spaces where African businesses and their target audiences can thrive together. Right now, we’re putting together a guide on how you, dear reader, can use social media to fix this country (no be meme), and there might be another fun review on the horizon…

This quarter is all about connection. Whether you’re a new business looking for visibility, an old player aiming to grow smarter, or just someone who loves great content, we’ve got something for you. All we ask is your continued support to keep doing what we - and you - love.

But wait!

Before you run away, we want to hear from you.

What’s at the top of your mind right now?
